Project Fiona Razer's new Tablet Gaming PC

Razer has officially gone nuts, and all in a good way. At CES 2012 today, the hardware gurus unveiled Project Fiona, a tablet-console-PC hybrid of a device that is designed to play PC games right out-of-the-box. Yup, you read that correct: PC games. This is all Windows 8 goodness, baby.

The 10.1″ tablet is fitted with two nunchuk-like controllers, bringing the best of both console and PC gaming together. It looks a bit chunky, but it’s still a concept and will hopefully be improved to be more carry-friendly.
Speaking to Engadget, Razer Chief Gamer Min-Lian Tan said that although PC games can be played on the device straight-off, developers can add support for Fiona if they so wish. So yes, Fiona specific control schemes will be allowed.
What’s really cool is that RAZER has built Project Fiona with the idea that its controllers buttons maps exactly to existing controllers, so game developers don’t have to do anything other than supporting classic game controllers like Xbox 360.
Here are it’s specs:
- Intel Core i7
- 10.1″ 1280×800 display
- Full-screen user interface supporting multi-touch
- 3-axis gyro, magnetometer, accelerometer
- Force feedback
- Dolby 7.1 surround sound
- WiFi 802.11b/g/n
- Bluetooth 3.0
In terms of performance, it looks very good, and the games that we tried were running anywhere between 30FPS and 60FPS, which is really nice. There is no details on the hardware currently used for this prototype, but given that hardware gets faster and cheaper overtime, this is a great baseline to stats with.
